Dog Show USA Update

For those of you who have been waiting, the results of the Dog Show USA contest sponsored by Purina have been published on their web site. Tilly the mixed-breed was voted ‘Best in Show’.

Harley and I were invited down to the ceremony at Purina’s St. Louis headquarters yesterday. It was quite a thrill as we were the only other Finalists besides Tilly to be there. The Purina employees were encouraged to bring in their own dogs and the ceremony was held over lunch time so they could all attend. NBC had a stage and all their cameras setup. It was really interesting to watch. Harley and I were awarded special Finalist medals and had several photo-op moments. We were also treated to lunch courtesy of Purina. Well, I was, Harley had to make do with a few stolen chips.

Monday was a big day for us, it started early with a 6:30 am interview on a local radio morning show, then the big reveal at Purina. That night we made the 6:00 news. They got a great shot of Harley on camera, and I am kicking myself for not thinking to tape it. But, Purina was kind enough to send us a photo. The gentleman in the picture is Purina’s Director of Breeder Enthusiast’s Group, Ernie Planck.

Harley loved the spotlight, but he was also just as happy to come home and jump on the bed. It’s back to being a regular dog again. Well, sort of, he is always a special dog to me.
